STATEMENT ISSUED BY SA INSTITUTE FOR DRUG-FREE SPORT ON CHILIBOY POSITIVE

Cape Town 09 June 2014: The SA Institute for Drug-Free Sport (SAIDS) has issued the following statement in response to the global and local media reporting on the positive doping test result on 19th March 2014 on South African rugby player Chiliboy Ralepelle in France.

SAIDS CEO, Khalid Galant explains: “In the case of the recent positive doping result by Chiliboy Ralepelle, we are not able to provide factual comment on this case as this test was conducted outside of South Africa in France and is handled by the French Anti-Doping Agency. We can confirm that the substance in question drostanolone is a banned anabolic steroid which is listed in the WADA 2014 Prohibited List.”
